      Description

After submission, our documents are reviewed by librarians as part of a much larger workflow (which includes both physical and digital objects, the repository and our library catalog, face-to-face and email interaction with authors) which is managed on a team basis. Currently submission-triggered emails are sent out to every member of the team (because each team member deals with documents across the full range of collections to enable them cover for each other). This number of emails is very annoying for them and I would like to turn them off. Disabling SMTP on dspace over-all has the undesirable side effect of preventing users from creating accounts and resetting passwords.

Claudia J├╝rgen distributed a patch to do this to the mailing list, but it was never applied to the main-line development. See http://www.mail-archive.com/dspace-general@mit.edu/msg00378.html
