"Create OGG locally" option text unclear

    Details

    • Type: Documentation

    • Priority: Trivial
    • Resolution: Done
    • Affects Version/s: 7.x-1.5
    • Fix Version/s: 7.x-1.6

      Description

      Currently it reads:

"Check this box if an optional OGG archival datastream is desired and should being created locally. Please note that OGG derivatives are no longer used within Islandora and this option remains to be consistent."

Here is the (temporary) note that I'm adding to 7.x-1.6 documentation:

" 'Create OGG locally' option is generally not recommended but remains an option for those who want to create their own local audio derivatives. See past documentation [link] for use of ffmpeg2theora in creating OGG derivatives."

What's the background on the OGG/ffmpeg2theora chilling? Little adoption, or just that ffmpeg2theora is a pain?
